Well it was a great day for a rocket flight so I thought I would give my new C!RLIP a shot...(pun intended). I loaded up an Estes A8-3, packed some wadding and rolled up the best streamer for this one...a 4' section of 3" wide......Caution tape! Loaded the rocket onto the pad and attached the clips to the igniter then backed away. As I crouched down, I got myself ready for a launch photo. I had my daughter operate the launch controller of which she had a little trouble with. After a few tries I thought there was something wrong with the controller so I looked away only to not get a picture of it taking off, just a smoke trail. It lifted off great and ejection was nearly perfect. I quickly switched to aperture priority mode and grabbed a shot of it coming down under streamer only to realize it's demise.....today was sacrifice day. I haven't launched in a while so it was time to give one up to the tree gods. Normally I might try to retrieve one that was costly but I was taking no chances on this one. Considering the tree was 10' from power lines too made retrieval a no-go. So in all I think it was a great launch. I learned you can build great flying rockets from a simple sheet of paper and make them look good too...just don't launch near trees... I'll build another and give it another shot (pun intended again).
